We are looking for year-round part time afternoon
care for our children. We anticipate needing assistance from roughly 3 p.m.-7 p.m., five days a week for the next 15 years! Anyone interested in working with our family, please contact me.
The long of it: We had an amazing full-time nanny for three years and then our children entered Brent School. Our nanny needed full time hours and she moved on to another family in the neighborhood.
The aftercare program at Brent is an asset, but it is just too long of a week. We juggled the first semester, and by winter connected with a graduate student who could help us in the afternoons. The difference was immeasurable. Unfortunately, our helper enrolled in a teacher certification program in Delaware and we are back to aftercare.
We have realized that our exact needs will shift in the years to come, but we will always need help during those hours and we are hoping to engage someone who lives in the area, has strong ties to the region and who would embrace the role for a long period of time.
We prefer a mature person and welcome someone with children of their own; perhaps a stay-at-home mom who could use an extra $240-$280 per week and enjoys adding our children to their daily afternoons or a person who has children that are independent and would enjoy engaging with growing children. The exact role will shift from daily play, snacks, play dates, etc. to bringing the children to music lessons, sports activities and other after-school programs. We'd establish a set salary and basic time-line and work with someone to fill in for our needs day-to-day.
The role will be centered on caring for our children, but will also have areas of work in maintaining our household: errands, light cleaning, meal preparation, etc. As the children grow, full time care would diminish, but family assistance needs will always abound.
We welcome all ideas. Thanks for sharing.
